New Delhi: To keep pace with the evolving requirements of the digital age, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched a new version of Health Management Information System (HMIS) to access services under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS).
The platform developed by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), is scheduled to go live from April 28, 2025.
In addition to this the ministry has re-launched CGHS mobile applications for Android and iOS with upgraded interface and integrated digital services
As per the Health Ministry, “the existing CGHS software, which has been in use since 2005 lacks compatibility with modern IT standards, cybersecurity frameworks, and user expectations. The revamped HMIS will enable faster, more transparent, and user-friendly access to CGHS services,”
While making the announcement the ministry noted that “to complete data migration, switch-over activities, and final validation. All CGHS services, including those at Wellness Centres shall remain closed for one day on 26th April 2025 (Saturday).”
Beneficiaries are advised to access all online services, including registration, application, grievance redressal, and information retrieval, through this new portal only, it added.
Under the upgraded version, the ministry has introduced PAN-based identification of beneficiaries; real-time tracking; automated payment verification, and fully online application workflows.
The advisory issued by the ministry states that, once the new portal is operational, CGHS contributions will only be accepted through the website. The manual payment process currently available will be discontinued.
The Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) is a healthcare scheme for central government employees, pensioners, and their dependents. It covers a range of medical services for its beneficiaries, including outpatient and inpatient treatment, specialist consultations, and medical investigations.
