Typhoon Wipha Causes New Widespread Flight Disruptions in China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Philippines

Typhoon Wipha continues to lead to flight cancellations after that has severely impacted Hong Kong, Southern China, Vietnam, Taiwan, and the Philippines, causing significant travel disruptions and adverse weather conditions. Initially forming as a tropical storm, Wipha intensified into a typhoon, prompting emergency measures across the affected regions. Numerous arrivals delayed or canceled across various regions. Several flights were affected, including Shenzhen Airlines’ ZH 8994 from Haikou, which was canceled, along with China Southern Airlines’ CZ 3330 from Zhanjiang and CZ 3354 from Beihai. Flights from Singapore and Dubai also experienced delays, with China Southern Airlines’ CZ 8490 arriving 94 minutes late and CZ 8058 arriving 52 minutes late from Dubai. Mahan Air’s W5 81 from Tehran faced a 90-minute delay, and Cathay Pacific’s CX 982 from Hong Kong arrived 27 minutes late. Other delays included China Southern Airlines’ CZ 3770 from Wenzhou (17 minutes late) and Xiamen Airlines’ MF 8323 from Fuzhou (34 minutes late). Several flights were rescheduled, including China Eastern Airlines’ MU 5211 from Hangzhou (16 minutes late) and Capital Airlines’ JD 5921 from Beijing (16 minutes late). Meanwhile, flights from Chongqing, Haikou, and Haikou again were canceled, further complicating travel plans amid the storm’s impact.
